November 2013:

Hi Bob and Fellow Classmates of '65,

I WILL be there for our 50th! Wouldn't miss it. In fact, I decided to finally retire as of June 2014 after 43 years of teaching so I could start planning and saving for my trip back there in 2015.

Sounds and looks like you've had a head start on the fun of "letting the day unfold" with a nice cup of coffee and a leisurely walk instead of feeling like you've been launched out of a cannon each morning at 5 am. CAN'T WAIT!

Thanks for the reminder. Hope to see you all there.

September 2005:

For the longest time I thought Lynn was "lost"; the telephone number I had for her didn't work, and a letter I sent to her came back.

She has been at her San Diego address all along, and I have no idea how I got a wrong phone number for her. Richard Springsteed found her number just before reunion time, and I called her.

Lynn has been an elememtary school teacher for all these years, wandering up and down through the grades, and has been doing the third grade for many years now. She says that she will retire when teaching is no longer fun, and that doesn't seem soon. She remarked that she already has taught grandchildren of children she taught in the early years!
...(as an aside, can you imagine how old those little kids must think she is???!)

I listened with interest as she related stories of her career, which is to say "stories of how she has enjoyed teaching"... My daughter will be certified this December, and I hope that in 35 years she can say the same things that Lynn said.

After I wrote the short sketch above, I e-mailed Lynn so that she could check it, and she replied with these additions:

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your call the other night. It was good talking with you. too. Sure wish I could be there for the reunion. Just checked the class website and directory. Sounds like there'll be quite a few of our classmates returning for this fortieth! Sing a round of the school song for me when you walk into the senior lounge. (You DO remember it, don't you?)

Speaking of singing. could you please mention that I sing with a Masterworks Chorale here in San Diego and that we performed Vivaldi's "Gloria" at CARNEGIE HALL in 2002. I was also a member for 8 years of the "Hour of Power" choir with The Crystal Cathedral Church in Garden Grove, CA. It is a nationally televised church program with Rev. Robert Schuller. I was also on staff there conducting the Cherub Choir of 4 and 5 year olds.

You see, I have fond memories of the years I spent in chorus with Mr. O'Hanlon. It was great! I've kept that interest in music all these years.

Thanks Bob. I'll try to keep current now that I've found this website. Love to you all.

Lynn
