February 2007:
I don't know what to add in terms of new news regarding Richard. From my conversations with him, things seem to be "more of the same".He has done a lot of background work for the website though, and has tracked down a number of otherwise "lost" classmates. He also sent us a much better quality copy of the picture on the site's opening page.
Below is a picture of Richard and his wife Kathy at the reunion, along with Wendy and Ned and Barbara.
December 2004
When I sent emails to everyone, Richard's came back as undeliverable. I was really stumped onhow to track him down, and suddenly it occurred to me that I could pick up the telephone. I dialed his number, not knowing if it was still good.
A voice answered "hello" and I replied "This sounds like Richard Springsteed". He was not surprised to hear something like that, but he was surprised that it was me saying it.
We talked for a long time, and covered many subjects. He told me why the pictures I had scanned from the yearbook have diagonal lines and how to get rid of them. He told me of searching up other classmates, and told me of conversations with R. David about writing.
Richard had wanted to go into law, but was fortunate to receive expert counseling which showed him that he should head in a different direction. He ended up with a career as an architect.
Publishing was a career choice that he had turned his back upon, but now that he is "old enough" he would like to create a textbook... or two. He is now working in that direction.
His email is excerpted below, and he has promised a more thorough explanation of his travels and times.

Bob,
Thanks for your phone call. Sorry you had to dig me out and I hadn't followed up with you instead. I'm glad you did or I'd likely have waiteduntil September.
I'll write you a real e-mail as soon as the day's work is over, which, by this time, might end up being tomorrow.
2003 or so...
All I know about Richard is a bit of directory information that David Cox forwarded to me: He is listed as an architect/ writer, living in California. He wrote me a short email in the fall of 2001 promising more info and some pix, and also provided Eddie Boyd's email address.
