February, 2003:

Hi Bob,

It's great to read the new additions to your website. I re-read my earlier contribution and thought I'd add to it and send along some pictures.

Last time I forgot to mention (to my horror) that I have two daughters, Chloe, 20, who is a Sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, and Phoebe, 14, who is a Freshman at Berkeley High School. Chloe is a diver and is on the Penn women's team. She is currently taking pre-med courses. Pheobe , also a water person, played on the Berkeley High Water Polo team in the fall and is on a club team presently. ( ever since knowing Phebe Alice in grade school, I have loved the name Phoebe.)

The Christmas holidays were great with Chloe home and all the celebrating with friends and the girls' friends coming and going at all times and at all hours. My significant other and I (his name is Joe Moore and he's an architect in SF) spent New Years in Tahoe cross country and downhill skiing. One highlight was slogging through deep snow out to the end of a pier which stretched out onto the lake, cracking a bottle of champagne with friends while the sun set.

Attached are some photos. The first is a recent picture of me with Joe. Next, a picture taken not long after I moved to Lenox, MA from Glen Cove. I am on the right. then Chloe and last Phoebe.

Happy New Year and thanks again for keeping this community alive.

warmly,

Sandra (Sandy Smith)

I received a "hello" note from Sandy Smith, who was in our class until the eighth grade. I was impressed that she spent the time think of people with whom she attended grade school. It speaks well for the bonds that were formed in the lower school.

Hi Bob,

While not technically in the Friends Academy class of '65 I did spend 9 years in school with many of the people who went on to High School and graduated with you.

In the middle of 8th. grade my family moved to Lenox, Massachusetts and I have been mainly out of touch since. (I did run into Robin Neuschel at a fraternity party at Amherst College in 1966 but since then...nothing.)

I do remember many names on your roster. I am saddened to think that Tom Nix and Jeff Willis have died. I, too, would like to hear more about them.

Your effort with the website is great. The internet is such a great connecting medium. I have lived in the San Francisco Bay area for the past 30 years and in Berkeley for the past 20. I have two daughters, one a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania and the other, just a month away from the age I left Friends, an 8th. grader.

For the past 20 years I have been a Psychotherapist with a private practice but before that I was dabbling in teaching and selling pottery. Go figure. I spend quite a bit of time hiking and exploring places like the Pt. Reyes national seashore, Yosemite or just my local canyons (California does that to you.) but mainly enjoying being where I am.

At the moment I am also in school studying Internet Design and Technology and when my portfolio site is perfected, I'll send you the url. SF is an inspiring place for this addiction. A January update: Sandy's portfolio can be viewed at< brysondesign.com >.

If you have another reunion, please let me know. I'd love to attend and I have lots of east coast connections. thanks,

Sandy Smith (Sandra Bryson)
